Youth and Family Services

3/13/2020

Youth and Family Services of Haddam Killingworth will be operating at a reduced schedule for the next two and possibly more weeks as per recommendations to limit community spread of Covid-19.  Anyone with an issue or concern is encouraged to call the office (860-345-7498) and leave a general message for Laura Shipman (Office Manager) Ext 1 to leave a message for Laurie Ruderfer (Executive Director) or Ext 2 to leave a message for Katy Kennedy (Clinical Director).  We will be covering our office daily between the hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and will field questions and calls at that time. If a call is received before or after that time we will get back to you within 24-hours of your call Monday-Friday. We are otherwise limiting all face-to-face contacts for the time being so ask that you not drop in to maintain the health and safety of all concerned.  For the near future, all appointments will be conducted by phone unless there are extenuating circumstances.

We will strive to do our best to be here for those who reach out to us but we are, collectively, entering unchartered territory so please exercise patience. For urgent issues that arise beyond the work day dial 2-1-1 for assistance.  If you are faced with an emergency dial 911.

Avoid crowds, follow the recommendations provided by health, medial and educational sources and take good care of yourself and your family.

We are people helping people. We are neighbors meeting neighbors. We are adults working with youth and we are youth working with adults.

They are all our kids. And we are local, first.

Census 2020: Be counted (from a safe distance)

By now, most homes across the country have received an invitation to complete the 2020 census, including instructions for filling out the census online. Completing the census online is a quick and easy way to help your community while staying home and practicing social distancing.

The census provides a critical snapshot of our country that has long-term and far-reaching impacts. Results from the census determine congressional representation, inform the allocation of hundreds of billions in federal funding, help communities plan for the future and inform essential research projects. Your response matters, so please submit your answers to this once-in-a-decade survey before July 31, 2020.
